We at Kisiizi Hospital are delighted to celebrate the recognition of Dr. Helen Allott (Smith) with an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for her exceptional contributions to disadvantaged children overseas, particularly here in Uganda.Dr. Helen and her husband Alan, both of whom have been awarded MBEs, have played a vital role in supporting Kisiizi Hospital through their charity, Kisiizi Partners. Their efforts have greatly improved healthcare services and positively impacted many vulnerable children in our community through a dedicated child sponsorship program.Dr. Helen, Chair of Trustees for Kisiizi Partners, shared her gratitude, saying, “Little did I realise when I first visited Kisiizi Hospital in 1999 that it would lead to such an enduring relationship with so many friends and colleagues both in Uganda and the UK. We deeply appreciate all the staff of Kisiizi Hospital, past and present, for their tireless efforts in providing holistic care to our rural community. We also thank those who have volunteered at the hospital from around the world and everyone who has served as trustees and volunteers for Kisiizi Partners.”Dr. Helen dedicated 36 years of service to the NHS, including 22 years as a consultant obstetrician.
