Staff

As Kisiizi has expanded over its 57 year history the number and range of Staff has increased.

We have a mixture of nursing posts including Enrolled and Registered Nurses and Midwives led by a Principal Nursing Officer and Tutors and Clinical Instructors led by a Principal Tutor in our School of Nursing.

The Allied Health Professionals include a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Laboratory Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, and Counsellors.

Supporting staff include those in Accounts and Administration, Records & Data, IT, Child Sponsorship co-ordinators, Laundry, Porters, Estate managers, mechanics, guest house staff etc.  We also have electricians working for Kisiizi Hospital Power Limited.

The Primary School has a team of teachers and support staff.

On the medical side we now have 6 Consultant Specialists:

  • Dr. Francis Banya, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
  • Dr. Dwight McLeod, Consultant Physician
  • Dr. Gabriel Okumu, Consultant Surgeon
  • Dr. Josephine Nantongo, Consultant Paediatrician
  • Dr. Robert Mugarura, Consultant Surgeon
  • Dr. Ian Spillman, Consultant Paediatrician

We have 5 Medical Officers and 8 interns, who spend a year with us rotating 3 months in each main specialty, and we have 4 clinical officers.

In addition we have a number of specialist clinical officers: Anaesthetics, Eyes, Dental, Orthopaedic, Psychiatric.

We are supported from time to time by volunteer staff, both Ugandan and those from overseas who come for variable periods from a week or two to longer term.  They often bring very valuable skills to help our staff develop their own potential further and we are very grateful for the help they bring.
