HIV Services

The availability of anti-retroviral [ARV] therapy has revolutionised the care and prognosis for patients with HIV infection.  Due to the numbers of patients [we have around 1,300 on our books] we now run a clinic every day for HIV patients on ARV’s.  We receive support from Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, who in turn are supported by USAID, to run most of this service.

Uganda has in the past year upgraded its regime to the Option B+ schedule.  We are seeking to improve our coverage and follow up of patients which may be challenging especially for those who live some distance from Kisiizi for whom the cost of transport may be a real issue.

Dr. Josephine Nantongo, Consultant Paediatrician, heads up the HIV services for both adults and children.

Hope Ministries provide support for patients and their families here and in the community, with counselling and practical support.
