Supporting

Kisiizi Hospital wishes to thank you for your gifts. This is much appreciated. The Hospital gets around 40% of its funds from patient fees. Compared to other mission hospitals, this is a high proportion, and increasing it to 60% or 80% is unlikely while Uganda remains a resource-poor country. Kisiizi is situated in a remote rural area where the people are mainly subsistence farmers and extremely poor.

About 10% comes from the Government of Uganda and Inter-Religious Council of Uganda whilst another 10% comes from miscellaneous income such as our Guest House and fees for our School of Nursing and Primary School. The final 40% comes from people like you, private people generously giving. No regular World Bank backing for the hospital costs here.

You may be interested in giving to the work of Kisiizi Hospital again in the future. There are several ways of doing this.

1. If you are a UK taxpayer, it is more sense to pay via a UK charity.

Kisiizi Partners (formally Sponsor a Nurse) is an organisation that supports the whole medical work of Kisiizi Hospital. Kisiizi Hospital really appreciates the work they do. Overall, we prefer it if people give via Sponsor A Nurse than directly to us. It reduces our transaction costs and assists them to give us a regular stream of funds.

We do accept direct gifts (2 & 3 above). If people give this way, we ask that they let us know by email, so we can identify the gift. In particular, could they say:

  • Who they are
  • For whom the gift is intended (“general hospital work” will be fine)
  • What the amount paid in actually was, and
  • When it was paid in

This way we can ensure the hard earned money goes to the right place. If people give via Sponsor-A-Nurse, then there is no need for this detail. Tell Sponsor-A-Nurse instead.

Thank you so much for your partnering in our work.
