Supporting Kisiizi

Kisiizi Hospital wishes to thank you for your gifts. This is much appreciated. The Hospital gets around 40% of its funds from patient fees. Compared to other mission hospitals, this is a high proportion, and increasing it to 60% or 80% is unlikely while Uganda remains a resource-poor country. Kisiizi is situated in a remote rural area where the people are mainly subsistence farmers and extremely poor.

Kisiizi appreciates the support from the government of Uganda towards the Primary Health Care programmes and salaries for intern doctors and nurses sent to Kisiizi for training.  Other income is ring-fenced for specific projects such as USAID support for HIV programmes channeled through Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau.  Miscellaneous income includes our Guest House and the Kisiizi Falls tourism project (www.kisiizifalls.com) and fees for our School of Nursing & Midwifery and Primary School. The rest comes from people like you, private people generously giving. No regular World Bank backing for the hospital costs here.

You may be interested in giving to the work of Kisiizi Hospital again in the future. There are several ways of doing this.

1. If you are a UK taxpayer, it is more sense to pay via a UK charity.

Kisiizi Partners (formally Sponsor a Nurse) is an organisation that supports the holistic ministries of Kisiizi Hospital including salary and training support, equipment and a specific orphan child sponsorship programme. Kisiizi Hospital really appreciates the tremendous work they do.
