Kisiizi has been pleased to welcome a range of visitors from across Uganda and from overseas in the past few months. We currently have a team from the Uganda Association of Surgeons running a surgical camp performing a range of surgery including procedures such as the release of contractures etc. Dr. John Sloan from Chester has also arrived to support the camp which has worked out very well.
Recently Dr. Niall Campbell and a team from Cheshire & Wirral Mental Health Partnership Trust visited for a week and gave valued support to Sister Nancy and her Staff both in Kisiizi and on outreach trips to the community.
In July we were blessed to have a visit from the Archbishop of Uganda who toured the hospital with Bishop Patrick, our own bishop of North Kigezi diocese, and Dr. Gabriel Okumu, the Deputy Medical Superintendent.
The Minister of Health of the Buganda Kingdom visited with a team, wanting especially to see the remarkable Kisiizi Community Health Insurance Scheme.
We have also had a group from Kabarole Hospital near Fort Portal to look especially at the Insurance scheme. More recently a group from Cure Hospital, Mbale, right the other side of Uganda on the Kenya border, visited to look at a range of aspects of Kisiizi’s ministries.
In addition to short stay visitors we have some volunteer staff including junior doctor and nursing staff and do appreciate their contribution.
